Let’s make it simple. The objective is to transfer Whatsapp messages from old phones to new one. Known method is to backup the whole Whatsapp app to Google Drive, then from the new phone, install Whatsapp then click button restore during initial app start.
But wait, I did not manage to get it through. I got the medias (images & documents) transferred but not messages. I don’t know why but Whatsapp told me that something wrong and it cannot get my old messages.
So I google for solution and found this entry.
So here what I did:
1. In old phone, I browse to Whatsapp folder, and there is Database folder and a file name ‘msgstore.db.crypt12’.
2. So this is the messages that were stored in my old phone, so I just need to transfer this whole file to my new phone in order to get all old messages there. I use Wifi-Direct and transfer it in few seconds.
3. In my new phone, I browse to Downloads folder and I got ‘msgstore.db.crypt12’ completely transferred. I just need to move this file to Whatsapp>Database folder.
Restart the phone, then I got all 100% my messages in there.
